Rising to the challenge at Bisley

The Bisley Camp in Surrey, England welcomed shooters to compete at two historic competitions in August 2018: the Inter-Regional Rifle Match and the ELEY Postal Final. Abigail, Mike, Martyn and Hannah travelled down from ELEY’s headquarters in Birmingham to cheer on the shooters, man our exhibition stand, and award prizes and medals to the winners.

The Inter-Regional final kicked off the competitions on Friday 10th, as Geoff McHugh’s match reached its climax in the Lord Roberts Centre. With 5,000 rounds of ELEY tenex ammunition to be won the stakes were high, and after a close final the deserving winners shared the spoils.

The focus shifted to the Century Range at the weekend, as Prone shooters from classes A-F took their positions on Bisley’s oldest range. ELEY’s stand was busy as people visited to pick up freebies, buy clothing and to enter a special competition on myELEY.com. Our guests of honour over the weekend were World Cup silver medallist Ken Parr, and Commonwealth Games Champion Dave Phelps. Huge thanks to both for stopping by. Check out their interviews from the weekend below.

Changeable conditions for Sunday’s final put England’s summer on hold, providing a real challenge for the competitors on Bisley’s notoriously windy heathland. The top finishers were rewarded with medals, certificates, and vouchers for free ammunition. Well done to all the finalists! All the action from the weekend is chronicled on the ELEY website in the Bisley photo gallery.

Visit the NSRA website for the full results from the weekend. Many thanks to the NSRA, Geoff, and the many volunteers who organised a fantastic weekend of shooting. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
