Gold medals for ELEY tenex air pellets in Munich

The final ISSF World Cup of 2018 for .22LR and Air events was contested at the Olympic venue in Munich. This event was the last opportunity to compete on a grand stage before the World Championships in September.

One million ELEY tenex air pellets were sent to our Munich test range in preparation for a busy week. Before the week was over we had sold out. Incredible results in the range had won the praise of the world’s best shooters. Many took their pellets straight from the range to the finals hall, and their faith was rewarded with success. Four medals were taken with the new pellets. ELEY’s expertise in ballistics and small batch production proved once again to be the winning formula.

Olena Kostevych was the first to enjoy victory in the Air Pistol Women final. The Ukrainian shooter scored 240.1 to beat China’s Wang Qian and Korea’s Kim Minjung. Olena then used our pellets to win the Air Pistol Mixed Team event together with partner Oleh Omelchuk. This was after equalling the Qualification World Record earlier that day, and taking Bronze in the 25m Women’s Pistol! An amazing performance.

The Serbian Air Pistol team of Zorona Arunovic and Damir Mikec, fought the Ukrainian duo right until the last shot. Also using the new pellets, they finished just 0.2 behind to win Silver. This was followed by China’s Team 2. It was the Serbian team’s second Silver in a row in this event!

Sergey Kamenskiy approached the Air Rifle Mixed Team final with confidence. This was after equalling the new 3P Eliminations World Record and winning the Silver medal. Together with partner Anastasia Galashina they bested China’s teams 1 and 2 to win Gold, their shots overlapping to put them ahead by 1.7 points.

ELEY’s .22LR ammunition dominated in the Women’s 3P and 25m Pistol finals. The Iranian shooter Elaheh Ahmadi, ranked 81^st in the world, broke cover to win the Gold medal in the rifle event. She was trailed by ELEY shooting Dongqi Chen in second place, and Binbin Zhang picked up Bronze. The Women’s Pistol final saw Yaxuan Xiong win the Gold medal with 31 shots on target, leading Yushi Yao and Olena Kostevych.

A special mention also to Jorge Alvarez, who claimed the Rapid Fire Pistol Bronze medal for Cuba in his first ever final. Congratulations!

With the first Tokyo 2020 quota places up for grabs at the World Championships in Korea, the pressure is on for shooters to perfect their chosen discipline. ELEY wish all the competitors the very best of luck.
